Access Wisdom Book Club November 2024

Each month, I’ll be hosting a monthly book club highlighting books that have helped me and my clients access our own inner wisdom. Each month we’ll discuss a different book and we’ll meet on the second Thursday of the month at my local library, Rogers Memorial Library, in Hudson, NH.

In November, we’re going to discuss Dare to Lead: Brave Work. Tough Conversations. Whole Hearts. by Brené Brown.

About the book: Leadership is not about titles, status, and power over people. A leader is anyone who holds herself or himself accountable for recognizing the potential in people and ideas and developing that potential. When we dare to lead, we don’t pretend to have the right answers; we stay curious and ask the right questions.

Access Wisdom Book Club December 2024

Each month, I’ll be hosting a monthly book club highlighting books that have helped me and my clients access our own inner wisdom. Each month we’ll discuss a different book and we’ll meet via Zoom on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and I’ll also be hosting an in-person book club on the second Thursday of the month at my local library, Rogers Memorial Library, in Hudson, NH.

December’s book is Radical Acceptance: Embracing Your Life with the Heart of a Buddha, by Tara Brach. About the book: Combining the principles of psychotherapy with the teachings of Buddhism, this guide explains how to eliminate the personal conflicts and feelings of not being good enough that can cause such problems as addiction, overwork, and perfectionism.

I found this book a real comfort during a difficult time in my life. I hope you find it useful, too.

Wordless Walks

Let’s go for a walk in the woods together…in silence.

There is something magical about walking through a beautiful setting with a group of people in intentional silence. The gift of silence is something we allow ourselves less and less in these busy, technology-filled days. When we walk in silence we can access a deeper part of ourselves and gain wisdom that we can’t easily hear in our day-to-day life.

Let’s take some time and spend it together…in silence.

How we’ll do it: We will gather in a group. Once we have gathered, we will speak together for a few minutes, then we will draw the curtain down on our words and walk together in silence, for about 50 minutes, before gathering again at the entrance to the park. Once we lift the curtain of silence and speak again, we will have a few minutes together before we go our separate ways, feeling calmer, more connected to ourselves and our natural world, and ready to take action from a place of peace.

Upcoming Dates: Friday, August 23, 2024, at 9 AM EDT.

Where: We’ll meet at the corner across the street from the Y (near the skate park) and walk into the park together.

How To Dress: Dress in layers, and wear sturdy boots or trail shoes. Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended, too. Let me know if you have any questions at diane@dianemackinnon.com.

Inner Critic to Inner Ally

We all have that inner critic, that little voice in our heads that tells us we’re “not good enough” or we’re “doing it wrong!” Please join me as we explore a simple exercise that will turn the inner critic into an inner ally. Using a tried and true neurolinguistic programming (NLP) technique, we’ll change that inner voice into a voice that supports us and encourages us.
