About
I am a physician who became a life coach.
Initially, I trained to be a life coach to help my patients.
Many of my patients agreed with my medical advice but couldn’t follow it. They would say things like, “I know I should take care of myself, Doc, but I can’t disappoint my Mom,” or, “I can’t stay home and rest, I have to drive my son to the hockey rink.” I realized just giving advice (however good!) wasn’t enough: I had to give people the tools to make the changes they wanted to make—and to be able to sustain those changes.
Since then I’ve helped thousands of patients make positive changes in their health and hundreds of clients make positive, lasting changes in every aspect of their lives—from health to relationships, from career to home.
When I first started working with Martha Beck, she did a visualization exercise with us called the Ideal Day. I was sitting in a group of women as she gave us cues that allowed us to see our futures. I sat there with tears streaming silently down my face and, after she finished the exercise, Martha asked me what was wrong.
“It’s impossible,” I said.
I’d seen a future that was fulfilling and joyful, and I didn’t believe it could happen. In fact, I was angry at Martha for showing me how far from ideal my life really was.
Fortunately, I kept working with Martha and I started using the coaching tools she taught me. It wasn’t too long before I started using my Ideal Day as a goal to strive for. My ideal day was where I was headed and I started taking small steps toward that life.
Today I’m living my ideal day every day.
If I can do it, so can you.
I was an overworked physician with family responsibilities and no special powers. After working with Martha Beck, I started to believe I could find my right life and I started to feel better. I made small changes that exercised my courage muscles for when I needed to make bigger changes, like leaving my medical practice to join another with less call and a better patient care schedule.
Step by step, my life changed for the better.
I want that for you, too.
Clients who work with me make positive changes in their lives.
I will tell you the truth as I see it in a straightforward manner. I will help you shift from where you are now to wherever you want to be — physically, emotionally, spiritually. When you hire me as your coach, you will have my full attention. We will design a coaching plan that allows you to become your best self.
You will have pre-work to do before our first call and I will have a plan in place for every call — and be ready to ditch it if your needs in the moment differ from what I had planned.
Frustration, or “being stuck,” is one of the most difficult emotions for us to handle. Yet many of my clients have come to me only after years of feeling stuck. If you are “stuck,” I can help you get unstuck.
If you have a demanding job and the rest of your life seems to be falling apart around you, I can help you calm the chaos and make peace a part of your every day life.
No matter the circumstances of your life, I can help you find your path to your best life, the one where you get to be authentically you, where you get to use your skills and passions to show up and serve in a way that also serves you.
